The presentation is a summary of the ASM/NIST program of binary mercury phase diagram evaluations. The most contemporary shapes of the binary phase diagrams of mercury with all elements are displayed in an integral form. Such way of the presentation allows to follow changes of the phase diagram boundaries within the groups and periods of the periodic table of elements. Numerous links between progress in electrochemistry and enlargement of the knowledge on mercury alloys (amalgams) are emphasized. There is a pronounced tendency observed between properties of elements (electronic structures, melting temperatures) and their trends toward formation of intermetallic compounds and mutual miscibility with mercury. With very few exceptions, which may be explained, many regularities are observed for the groups of elements, lanthanides and actinides.
