Travel Information
Calphad participants are invited to travel to Maastricht.
The conference site is at about 5 km from MAASTRICHT-AACHEN AIRPORT,
and also from MAASTRICHT RAILWAY STATION.
From SCHIPHOL AMSTERDAM AIRPORT, there are two possibilities to travel
to Maastricht:
- by railway - the station is at Schiphol airport; it takes about
three hours from the the airport to Maastricht; trains every 30
minutes; prices are 27,20 Euro for a 2nd class, and 43,50 Euro for a
1st class ticket;
- by domestic flight to Maastricht-Aachen Airport - about 50 min - the
basic price for a round trip is 100 Euro.

From Maastricht Central Railway Station or from Maastricht-Aachen
Airport you can travel by taxi to Castle Vaeshartelt and/or to Hotel van

car, here is the description to reach Castle Vaeshartelt ("Kasteel
Vaeshartelt"), address: Weert 9, 6222 PG Maastricht, The
Netherlands:
- From the NORTH (Eindhoven):
On motorway A2 (E25) take exit no. 51 (Meerssen-Bunde);
At the end of the exit, on the roundabout, take the second exit; after
driving underneath the viaduct take the first exit on the next
roundabout (direction Maastricht);
Follow this road and after about 1 km, on a roundabout, take the first
exit (direction Maastricht);
Then, after about 200 m, take the first road to your right (direction
Weert);
After passing the railway, Casle Vaeshartelt is in front of you.
- From the EAST (Aachen / Heerlen):
On motorway A79, take exit no. 1 (Bunde);
At the end of the exit, turn right;
After about 250 m at the roundabout, take the third exit (direction
Maastricht);
Then, after about 200 m, take the first road to your right (direction
Weert);
After passing the railway, Casle Vaeshartelt is in front of you.
- From the SOUTH (Liège):
On the A2 (E25), about 1.9 km after the interchange with the N278,
turn left at the traffic lights (Viaductweg);
After 250 m, turn right at the traffic lights (Meerssenerweg);
Then, after about 2.3 km, take the road to your left (direction Weert);
After passing the railway, Casle Vaeshartelt is in front of you.
Hotel van der Valk (Nijverheidsweg 35, 6227 AL Maastricht, The
Netherlands) can be reached by car from the the motorway A2 (E25):
Eindhoven-Maastricht-Liège):
- From the NORTH (Eindhoven):
Take the exit at "Knooppunt Europaplein" to the N278,
direction "Cadier en Keer"; at the end of the exit turn
right;
After 200 m, turn right to the "1 Juliweg";
After 110 m, turn right to the "Nijverheidsweg".
- From the SOUTH (Liège):
Take the exit at "Knooppunt Europaplein" to the N278,
direction "Cadier en Keer"; at the end of the exit turn
right;
After 85 m, turn right to the "1 Juliweg";
After 110 m, turn right to the "Nijverheidsweg".
