  1. The Foundation for Applied Thermodynamics (Stiftelsen för Tillämpad Termodynamik, STT) offers funding which may be used for attending the CALPHAD meeting.

The foundation, which was established 1993, herewith announces grants for the year of 2014. Applications must be in the written form and give the background of the applicant and her/his merits and for what purpose the grant will be used. The following excerpts from the statutes of the Foundation define what grants can be given.

2.2 The main purpose of the Foundation is to support scientific research on and development of thermodynamic databases and computer programs in order to serve the interest of human life, work and environment.

2.3 The Foundation will act for its main purpose by granting scholarships and other grants to individual researchers; mainly researchers or research students working with modelling, development or applications of thermodynamic calculations within the fields of materials, energy, physics or chemistry. Purposes, which benefit these fields within KTH, should be given priority.

2.4 Grants will especially be given for carrying out research projects, taking part in conferences and visits and for financing guest researchers. Only in exceptional cases will grants be given for the purchase of scientific equipment.

The application should not be longer than two pages, clearly indicating:

    • Purpose with the application (i.e. what will the grant be used for)

    • Tentative budget

    • Bank details (Name and address of the receiver, BIC (Bank Identifier Code) and IBAN (International Bank Account Number))

In addition, a CV or rsum (maximum two pages) must be submitted, clearly indicating affiliation and present position of the applicant. Applications not conforming to these requirements will not be considered.

The money shall be spent within a year from the date of decision and a written report shall be submitted to the Foundation.

Applications, which have reached the Foundation no later than 31 January, 2014, will be considered at a meeting in March. Applications for grants referring to the beginning of the year 2015 may be submitted at any time of the year 2014 and will be considered at a board meeting no later than November 2014. The decision will depend on how much funds are available at that time.

Applications can only be submitted to
